Two Accidents Are Reported By Monessen Police
An elderly Monessen woman suffered bruises when she was struck by a parel[sic] truck and a Belle Vernen driver was arrested after causing considerable damage in a two-car collision, Monessen police reported for the weekend.
According to the police report, Mrs. Mary Gha of 321 Rebecca St., received bruises of the knees and elbows when struck by a panel truck being backed into the Gulf Service Station on Schoonmaker Ave. at Manown St., Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
The truck was driven by Lee Brown of 217 Third St., Monessen. The injured woman was taken to a city physician for treatment. Brown said he was returning the truck to a customer after washing it when the accident occurred.
Charlyan Carter of 807 Green St., Belle Vernon, was arrested by police on charges of driving without a license and reckless driving after the car she was operating and owned by a Washington, Pa. man, jammed into another car on Knox Ave., at 8:25 a.m. today and caused considerable damage to both cars, police said.
She was driving a car owned by Warren Williams, Jr. and crashed into the car of Paul Pavtis, of 668 Knox Ave. Menessen. According to the report and lost control of the Williams car while turning left on Knox Ave. toward Sixth St.. She hit the right side of the Pavtis car.
