HEAD-ON CRASH KILLS 5 TEENS NEAR HARPER.

Harper (AP) - Five teenagers were killed and two other people were injured in a head-on collision Saturday on a curve near this ranching community.
All seven people in the accident were residents of Harper, in Gillespie County about 15 miles northwest of Kerrville, officials said.
The accident occurred about 11:15 a.m. Saturday on Ranch Road 783 about 11 miles north of Kerrville, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.
All five occupants of a 1972 Volkswagen, which was southbound on the highway, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The dead were identified as GENORA GAYLE GAMEL, 18; ESTELLA E. FRANCO, 14; MELANIE ANN KNEESE, 14; KIMBERLY G. PARKER, 16; and CELIA PARRY, 16. PARRY was thrown from the vehicle; the other four had to be pulled from the car with the help of a Jaws of Life device.
