Scottsdale, VA House Fires, Jun 1898

Two Houses Burned.

[Special Dispatch to the Baltimore Sun.]

NORFOLK, Va., June 23—Last night at about 12 o’clock, fire was discovered in the residence of Wm. Roach, situated on the Port Norfolk road, near Scottsville, and the flames spread to the house of Wm. Martin, next door, destroying both houses and nearly all of Roach’s furniture. There was no insurance on the Roach property. The fire started in the kitchen of Roach’s house, and is thought to have been of incendiary origin, as there had been no fire in the stove all day.
